Portfolio > 'FTD's' 2009

'FTDs' continues hybrid abstractions of traditional flower corsages and medicinal herbs initially explored in the series 'Anthophobia'.

Florists' Transworld Delivery, is the common understanding of the acronym FTD -there you find the flower corsages which inspired the names of brooches--'Pure Grace', 'Slow Dance', and 'Enchantment'. A less familiar use of the acronym is for, Formal Thought Disorder a term used in psychiatry to describe a pattern of disordered language. A coincidental discovery - seemed all the more apropos of the botanical inspirations of aphrodisiacs and psychotropic plants.
