La Frontera: Port of Entry
La Frontera: Port of Entry
2023

We park at the border at Tecate and walk across. This is the view as we approach the border. The unpaved parking lots are a mixture of cars packed tightly into a small yard, the 'office' is a trailer, that is usually deserted by the time we leave.

There is a lovely plaza a few blocks on from the border entry.
There used to be a few crafts stands on the plaza selling leather goods, textiles, and flameworked glass. Amidst the cute hearts and animals, encouraged by my mother who was visiting San Diego, I once bought a flameworked model of a semi-tractor trailer - it is about 15" long. It one of my favorite things.

After Covid, people have begun to gather again on the Plaza, but the crafts stands have not yet returned.
