Pleased to be part of this exhibition with a ring from the series:Rings of Engagement
Organized by Helen Drutt and researched by Elizabeth Essner with assistance from Colleen Terrell.

Featuring work from Australia, Austria, England, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway Russia, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United States, this international selection brings together over one hundred rings that demonstrate the artists’ wide-ranging expressions through a variety of aesthetic and conceptual ideas. '21 GRAMS' Exhibtion + Symposium - Hangzhou, CHINA
Invited by Dutch artist Ruudt Peters for the exhibition and symposium '21 Grams', presented at the China Academy of Art, Hangzhou, CHINA.
The exhibition space in China was the Museum of Crafts at China Academy of Art in Hangzhou.
About the exhibition concept from Ruudt Peters:
On 10 April 1901, an unusual experiment was conducted in Dorchester,
Massachusetts. Dr. Duncan MacDougall attempted to prove that the human soul had physical mass, and was therefore, measurable.
Dr. MacDougall conducted this experiment on six dying patients who were placed on specially made Fairbanks weight scales just prior to their deaths. Dr. MacDougall’s intention was to weigh each body before and after death to determine any differences measured by the delicate scales. The patients were selected based upon their imminent death. Two patients were suffering from tuberculosis, 5 were men and one
was a woman. Based on the fact that he could prove that 1 patient lost 21 grams directly after the moment of dying, MacDougall published his hypothesis that the human soul has a physical weight of “21 grams”
The weight of "21 grams" is a mysterious concept, both imaginative and literally.
Jewelry makers were challenged to create a new work of art, especially made for this show, that translates the idea of the soul in a physical object that weighs no more than “21 grams".
SOFA Chicago 2018 - with Gallery Noel Guyomarch'
SOFA Chicago 2018 - with Gallery Noel Guyomarch'
Very pleased to have work from Upside Down in Paradise shown at SOFA (Sculptural Objects Functional Art) Chicago in November 2018, shown with Montreal Gallery Noel Guyomarch'.
The Sculpture Objects Functional Art and Design (SOFA) Fair in Chicago is the premier gallery-presented art fair dedicated to three-dimensional art and design. On par with Art Basel and TEFAF Maastricht, SOFA is produced by Urban Expositions, a Clarion Events company.
Critically acclaimed and continuously running since 1994, what distinguishes SOFA from other top art events is its focus on three-dimensional artworks that cross the boundaries of fine art, decorative art and design. SOFA is noted for its exceptional presentation, with an elite selection of international dealers presenting for sale one-of-a-kind masterworks in handsome, custom-designed gallery exhibits.
SOFA is held annually in the fall at Chicago's major destination, Navy Pier, with an average of 80 dealers and 35,000 people attending.
With a strong educational emphasis, SOFA CHICAGO includes an acclaimed lecture series and special exhibits exploring the artworks on view and surveying new trends in the art world.
SOFA has evolved into a dynamic international marketplace and community – a confluence of perspectives where art, design and people intersect.
